Parents

“Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.”

~ Charles R. Swindoll

A Parent's Prayer

Loving God,
You are the giver of all we possess,
the source of all of our blessings.
We thank and praise you.

Thank you for the gift of our children.

Help us to set boundaries for them,
and yet encourage them to explore.
Give us the strength and courage to treat
each day as a fresh start.

May our children come to know you, the one true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

May your Holy Spirit help them to grow
in faith, hope, and love,
so they may know peace, truth, and goodness.

May their ears hear your voice.
May their eyes see your presence in all things.
May their lips proclaim your word.
May their hearts be your dwelling place.
May their hands do works of charity.
May their feet walk in the way of Jesus Christ,
your Son and our Lord.
Amen.

Family Handbook

Click here to access our Family Handbook.  All parents are asked to not only take the time to read and become familiar with the handbook but to also use it as a reference throughout the year as it offers answers to many questions that may arise.  Each family is required to sign an acknowledgement of receipt prior to the start of the school year.  When signing this form, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to adhere to all policies and procedures outlined.

Parent Council

The parents of OLA Preschool enjoy a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Events are organized and implemented by members of our Parent Council. All parents of preschool students are encouraged to participate in the these activities for the good of the preschool and our students.

In a July 2019 blog on the BoosterThon website, Sarah Majoram wrote a post about why parents should volunteer at their child's school.

Below are her 7 reasons:

1. Volunteering makes a difference in your child's education.  Research shows that when parents volunteer, their children do better in school - from academics to behavior.

2. Volunteering allows you to spend more time with your child.  A gift to both you and your child!

3. Volunteering helps create community. What a great way to make new friends and be positive influences on one another's children!  Also, your support system grows.

4. Volunteering allows you to get to know teachers/staff. This is a great chance to show them your support.

5. Volunteering makes schools better. Parental involvement can help provide more opportunities that teachers/staff alone cannot do. Also, it helps school raise much needed funds.

6. Volunteering allows you to use your strengths. Look for opportunities to serve where you can use your talents!

7. Volunteering is good for your health. Research shows that folks who volunteer "live longer, have lower stress levels, and are generally healthier."

Safe Environment Training
VIRTUS

All volunteers must complete the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Training and undergo a background check BEFORE you begin interacting with youth.

The Archdiocese of Atlanta is committed to helping children and young people learn and grow in a healthy and safe environment. OLA Church and Schools comply with archdiocesan safe environment policies and procedures.

The Safe Environment Training for Adults of the Archdiocese of Atlanta includes training in how to recognize, prevent, and report abuse. All employees, and volunteers who regularly work with minors, receive this initial training, as well as ongoing training and background screening.

The Code of Conduct, Sexual Abuse Policy, Ministerial Standards for Clergy, Educators and all  Working with Children and Vulnerable Individuals, Social Media Policy as well as the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People are available at the diocesan website at www.archatl.com.

An overview of the children’s training, parent guide, and lesson plans are also available on the diocesan website.
